‘I’m so sick of this narrative’: Alec Baldwin shares crew member’s posts to defend ‘Rust’ production team

Two weeks after the tragic shooting incident on the set of Rust, Alec Baldwin took to social media to defend the film’s production crew, disputing reports of “unsafe and chaotic” working conditions on the site.

Baldwin, who fired a prop gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, shared seven screenshots that appear to have been posted by crew member Terese Magpale Davis. The context of where the screenshots were posted, however, was unclear.

“I’m so sick of this narrative. I worked on this movie. The story being spun of us being overworked and surrounded by unsafe, chaotic conditions is b*llsh*t,” Davis began, defending Rust’s production team.

“We never worked more than a 12.5-hour shoot day. That was once. Most days were under 12. The day Halyna died, we had come off a 12-hour turnaround after an 11-hour shoot day. We had (including camera) gotten off by 6:30 p.m. We had just a 56-hour weekend right before that. No one was tired to do their jobs,” Davis added.

The Rust crew member went on to clarify several claims about the film’s poor working conditions, noting that the crew had proper lodging, the producers “tirelessly worked alongside us,” and there were no “back end deals” to save money on production costs.

Davis also stressed that the film’s producers “cared about us while we all worked together” and they continue to care,” stating they perceive the crew as “walking dollar signs.”

The crew member also pointed out that the ongoing investigation focuses on “gun safety.” “Something we could all stand to learn a little more about so that we know if we’re something a bit off.”

Since the tragic incident, Baldwin has reportedly been “cooperating with police and has been speaking to them every day.” The Hollywood actor and producer maintained that he “could not speak about the ongoing investigation.”
