The CW releases official promo image for live-action ‘Powerpuff Girls’
The first official promo image for the live-action Powerpuff Girls series has been released by the CW.
The image features Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Blossom, Dove Cameron (Disney’s Descendants) as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault (Broadway’s Jagged Little Pill) as Buttercup.
The upcoming live-action show is based on the beloved Cartoon Network animated kid’s series and characters created by Craig McCracken, which focused on three kindergarten-aged girls with superpowers.
The series reimagines the former pint-sized trio as “disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting.”
The show will also star Donald Faison (Scrubs) as Professor Drake Utonium and Nicholas Podany (Broadway’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) as Mojo Jojo Jr.
The adult-themed remake series was first announced as being in development back in August 2020 for The CW Television Network.
The Powerpuff Girls pilot hails from writers and executive producers Heather Regnier (Veronica Mars, Sleepy Hollow) and Diablo Cody (Juno). Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden of Berlanti Productions will serve as executive producers, alongside Warner Bros. Television.
Unofficial photos from the set were previously leaked last week on Twitter by TMZ showing the girls getting ready for action as the show started production.
