Filipino-Americans are continuing to dominate the global music scene with multiple awards to their names, with pop artist Olivia Rodrigo, RnB singer H.E.R., and rapper Saweetie slated to receive awards at the 2022 Billboard Women in Music Awards.

Grammy-nominated Rodrigo was first announced to receive the prestigious Woman of the Year award on Feb. 4. The Sour singer was recognized for her raw storytelling ability, with Billboard’s Editorial Director Hannah Karp calling it the work of a “pop music legend.”

“Connecting with audiences across generations through emotionally charged songs about heartbreak, jealousy and growing up, she’s achieved absolutely incredible chart success for a debut artist. We are thrilled to celebrate her unique voice and the enormous impact she’s had on fans around the globe in such a short time,” Karp said in a statement.

Rodrigo will be the first Asian-American to receive the honor, which has last been received by rapper Cardi B two years ago.

On the other hand, four-time Grammy winner H.E.R. will be adding the American Express Impact Award to her shelf of accolades. According to Billboard, the said award is conferred to artists who have well used their musical platforms in pushing for women empowerment in the music industry and all other fields.

H.E.R. – whose real name is Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson – was chosen to receive the Impact Award for openly supporting small businesses through her influence as a musical artist.

Meanwhile Grammy-nominee Saweetie will be the recipient of the Game Changer Award. The Best Friend rapper will be the second artist to receive such an award, which was only previously received by fellow rapper Nicki Minaj in 2019.

The Billboard Women in Music Awards is an annual event that recognizes women in the music industry who have made outstanding contributions in their field while serving as an inspiration to generations of women.

This year’s awards show will be held on Mar. 2 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, California and fans can get tickets to the show. Apart from receiving their awards, the three Fil-Am artists will also be performing their own hits at the show.
