‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ is getting major updates that will make you want to pick up the game again
How long has it been since you opened Animal Crossing: New Horizons on your Nintendo Switch?
A massive update is coming to cure your Animal Crossing fatigue this Nov. 5, which will bring new features, improvements, and fan-requested quality-of-life upgrades to refresh your gameplay. This update will come for free, the game's final major one that won't come with a price, according to Nintendo.
Here are some new features that will make you want to pick up the game again.
Something's brewing
In addition to checking out exhibits, players will have something new to do at the museum: chilling at the café. Brewster, the coffee-brewing pigeon, is coming to New Horizons and is opening The Roost to make a steaming cup of joe for 200 bells.
At The Roost, players will be able to drink coffee with friends from other islands and other villagers. They'll also be able to request what kind of coffee they want from Brewster, just like how you would in a real coffee shop.
Ahoy, matey!
There's another new character docking on players' islands: Kapp'n and he's taking his boat with him. This green turtle will ferry you on his boat and sing old sea shanties to visit mysterious new islands, which might have exotic flora, fruits, and more that you won't find on your island.
A new plaza
A major change is coming to Harv's Island. Players can work with Harriet to open stalls and caravans to create a bustling plaza. There'll be different activities to try including getting your fortune told and trying out new hairstyles—yes, new hairstyles and colors will be added to the game.
Other quality-of-life upgrades
New Horizons is bringing a number of quality-of-life updates including the option to expand storage, exercising with villagers, cooking with DIY recipes, adding ceiling decor, the ability to add more bridges and inclines, new fence types, permanently placing ladders, and more.
And finally, players of this slice-of-life game will also be able to have villagers visit their homes.
Happy Home Paradise
Aside from the free major update, Nintendo also announced downloadable content (DLC), which will be available for $24.99. This DLC adds the ability to work with Tom Nook to plan and build vacation homes for villagers.
