Spidey battles Rhino in Spider-Man: Miles Morales gameplay teaser

Marvel’s highly anticipated video game Spider-Man: Miles Morales is less than a month away and  we get a first look at the games’ first boss battle courtesy of some exclusive footage from Game Informer.

The short, 90-second clip shows Peter Parker and Miles Morales – both in costume – rescue a failing S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet transporting a metal crate with a mysterious "package." The succeeding crash frees super powered villain Rhino who breaks his handcuffs with ease.

After this, the next scene jumps to the first boss battle between Miles and Rhino. The clash takes place in an area surrounded by active electric generators. At this point, players must learn how to ride Rhino and trick him into hitting them. Multiple repetitions will slowly chip away at the health of this hulking behemoth.

Aside from traditional web slings and projectiles, Miles can also perform the "Venom Punch" to a weakened Rhino. Another notable detail is the addition of quick-time events that gives normal battles a more cinematic flair. The gameplay is generally newbie-friendly, as there are some in-game instructions to help players master the controls right away.

From the looks of it, the slow and bulky Rhino is being used as a tutorial boss fight for players to learn how to time jumps, punches, combos, and finishers in proper order. If someone as strong as Rhino is the first boss, we can only imagine which among the numerous Spider-Man villains guard the succeeding levels.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be available on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on Nov. 12.
