WATCH: Garfield reunites with his long-lost father in the latest trailer of 'The Garfield Movie'
The world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure as seen in the latest trailer of The Garfield Movie.
In the video released by Colombia Pictures, Garfield (voiced by Marvel actor Chris Pratt) has an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father, a scruffy street cat named Vic, voiced by one of the most widely recognized American actors of his generation, Samuel L. Jackson.
Moreover, Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.
Pratt's new animated movie featuring the grumpy tabby cat will be written by Oscar nominee David Reynolds (Finding Nemo) and directed by Mark Dindal (Chicken Little).
The other voice cast includes Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang.
The showing date has not yet been announced.
The popular comic strip chronicles the lives of Garfield, his owner John Arbuckle, and Odie. The comic strip, which garnered worldwide popularity for several decades, became known for the beloved cat's laziness, obsession with lasagna and pizza, and disdain for Mondays and diets.
Davis' Garfield made its debut in the comic section of 41 newspapers in 1978. As of 2015, Garfield holds the Guinness World Record as the world's most syndicated comic strip, appearing in about 2,100 journals in 80 countries.
Apart from dominating the comic section, the orange feline also appeared in two live-action/CGI animated movies by 20th Century Fox: 2004's Garfield: The Movie and 2006's Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, with renowned actor Bill Murray voicing the titular character.
