Published Aug 06, 2020 12:00 am

Samsung has officially revealed five new devices during its first-ever Galaxy Unpacked virtual event. And if you want a quick breakdown of the announcement, here’s everything Samsung announced last night.

Galaxy Note 20 series

The newest iteration of Samsung’s flagship phone comes in two flavors - the Galaxy Note 20 and the beefier Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The Note 20 Ultra has a massive 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865+ chipset and has 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Other than the smaller 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Plus Infinity-O Display and 8GB of RAM, the regular Note 20 almost share the same core feats of the Note 20 Ultra.

In the camera department, the Note 20 Ultra’s triple camera setup on the back consists of an impressive 108-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel telephoto and 12-megapixel ultrawide. The standard version, however, sports the toned down version of its sibling’s camera setup on the rear, featuring a 12-megapixel camera as its main, 64-megapixel telephoto and 12-megapixel ultrawide. Both versions have the same 10-megapixel camera in the front.

Samsung’s newest flagship series also comes with a more advanced S Pen. The Korean company said that Note 20 series’ S Pen has an improved latency for more fluid writing as well as five new customizable gestures that expands the features offered by Air Actions.

The Galaxy Note20 has a starting price of P53,990 while the Galaxy Note20 Ultra has a price tag of P67,990. The Galaxy Note20 series will be available on August 21.

Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+

Samsung also introduced its 5G-enabled Galaxy Tab S7 series that combines the “power of a PC, the flexibility of a tablet, and the connectivity of a smartphone.”

The Galaxy Tab S7 has an 11-inch LTFS TFT display while the Tab S7+ has a slightly bigger 12.4-inch SUPER AMOLED display. The Tab S7 series also runs with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+, with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM paired with 256GB of internal storage. If that’s not enough, the tablet’s storage can be expanded up to 1TB using a microSD. The tablet's standard version has 8,000mAh while the Tab S7+ boasts a bigger 10,090mAh battery. Both versions also have the same camera setup - the rear has a 13-megapixel main along with a 5-megapixel ultra wide lens while the front has an 8-megapixel camera.

Galaxy Z Fold2

The virtual Unpacked also showed the successor to its foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold2. Although much of Z Fold2's information remain scant as of the moment, Samsung briefly revealed during the virtual presentation that the cover screen of the Z Fold2 sports a wider 6.2-inch display while the main screen is 7.6-inches, making the Z Fold2 bigger than last year’s Galaxy Fold.

Galaxy Watch 3

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch3 also made its debut during the virtual event. The next-generation smartwatch has an “expansive health suite” designed to offer improved health and wellness monitoring. Apart from its blood oxygen feature, the Galaxy Watch 3 is also capable of monitoring blood pressure and electrocardiogram readings.

The Galaxy Watch3 is priced at P20,990 and will be available starting August 6.

Galaxy Buds

After a series of leaks, Samsung also revealed its new wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds Live. It has a 12mm speaker and bass duct for an improved audio experience. Aside from that, the Galaxy Buds Live also has three microphones, a voice pickup unit as well as an active noise cancellation feature. When fully charged, Samsung said that the Galaxy Buds Live can support up to six hours of playback while the case can provide additional 15 hours of charging.

The Galaxy Buds Live has a price tag of P8,990 and will also be avaialble starting August 6.
