Published Jul 22, 2022 2:36 pm

There's simply no stopping SB19 from raising the flag of Pinoys worldwide!

In case you missed it, the P-pop boy group was named as one of Teen Vogue's 'favorite boy bands of all time,' marking another milestone for the Pinoy music industry.

The P-pop kings, comprised of Stell, Josh, Pablo, Justin, and Ken, is the only P-pop band to make it onto Teen Vogue's list published on July 14.

Listed alongside SB19 are timeless bands The Beatles, Backstreet Boys, Westlife, and K-pop superstars BTS, EXO, Bigbang, and Seventeen.

According to the magazine, there is no single definition of a boyband; instead, their "loyal and (lovingly) chaotic fanbases" help to define who they are.

“They exist across genres as well, ranging from pop to R&B to hip-hop to punk — and no one group is more or less a perfect example of the category," writes Elizabeth. “Whether you’re a Directioner or an EXO-L, being part of any boy band fandom comes with excitement, love, and, of course, all the music imaginable,” the magazine said.

This is not the first time SB19 has appeared on one of Teen Vogue's lists.

The Mahalimas (a term ATIN refers to as SB19) were also mentioned in Teen Vogue's Best Music Fridays in 2021 for their song "Bazinga," which they describe as the “hallmark of a great 21st-century pop smash."

“Flexing their musical muscles, the song feels like six songs in one (and the ending vocalizing is so sticky),” Teen Vogue said, praising SB19’s hit song.

SB19 made their musical debut in 2018 with the song "Tilaluha” but rose to fame with their song “Go Up”. They are the first P-pop group trained in South Korea under ShowBT for two years.

SB19 is also the first Filipino act to be featured in Billboard's Next Big Sound and the first Southeast Asian pop group nominated for a Billboard Music Award in the category of Top Social Artist in 2021.

Their song "Bazinga" also topped the Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart in December last year, beating out BTS's "Butter" and "Permission to Dance."

SB19 had its first major concert at the Cuneta Astrodome in 2019. While In 2022, they had their first fan conference together with other P-pop groups like BGYO, BINI, Alamat, and 1st One at the Big Dome.

"What?," "Alab," "Mapa," and "Go Up" are a few of the group's top hits.
