WATCH: Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One teaser trailer drops

Published May 23, 2022 10:28 pm Updated May 23, 2022 10:33 pm

The trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One dropped tonight, giving audiences a glimpse at the first of two highly-anticipated films in the epic action franchise's conclusion.

Tom Cruise steps back into the role of IMF agent Ethan Hunt in a two-part cinematic conclusion to the Mission Impossible franchise which started in 1996. That's 26 years total, with Dead Reckoning announced for a 2023 release.

The films have been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first part was supposed to have released in September 2021, with the second for July 2023. With Cruise's insistence that both films be released in theaters instead of going the streaming route—as most studios have over the past couple of years—we only need to wait a little bit more to experience both Mission Impossibles the way the filmmakers intended.

Check out the trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One  below:

Christopher McQuarrie, who directed Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) and Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018)—returns to direct parts one and two.

Returning cast includes Cruise, Vhing Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby. Newcomers include Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Esai Morales, Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss and Cary Elwes.

A major surprise in the trailer is the return of Henry Czerny who plays former IMF director Eugene Kittridge, a major character we haven't heard from since 1996's Mission: Impossible.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One arrives in theaters in 2023.
