Nickelodeon and Paramount Plus released a sneak peek of the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants prequel series Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years.

First anounced in 2019, the CG-animated prequel follows the story of a 10-year-old SpongeBob SquarePants and his pals as they spend their summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish, and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck.

In the six-minute clip of the premiere episode "The Jellyfish Kid", a young SpongeBob SquarePants joins his best pal Patrick and Sandy in their first attempt to catch a jellyfish. With Squidward serving as their mentor, SpongeBob tries to net one of the sea creatures roaming around Bikini Bottom but to no avail. Thankfully, Patrick comes to his aid and easily catches a jellyfish for SpongeBob.

Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years features Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton) reprising their iconic roles. Carlos Alazraqui (The Casagrandes) and Kate Higgins (Blaze and the Monster Machines) join as new characters Nobby and Narlene, narwhal siblings who live in the woods surrounding the camp.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, the series is set to debut soon on Paramount Plus. After the season’s run on the streaming service, the animated series will air on Nickelodeon later this year.

Apart from Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years, SpongeBob’s best friend is also getting his own spinoff series fittingly called The Patrick Star Show. The upcoming animated series will reportedly have 13 episodes with Fagerbakke set to reprise his role as the dim-witted pink starfish.

The spinoff series will reportedly focus on Patrick and his family, with SpongeBob’s partner in crime set to host his own late-night talk show.

First aired on Jul. 17, 1999, SpongeBob Squarepants has reigned as the number one animated series for kids on TV for the past 18 years. The show generated a universe filled with beloved characters, pop culture catchphrases and memes, theatrical releases, consumer products, a Tony award-winning Broadway musical and a global fan base.
