'Heartstopper' Season 2 unveils premiere date. Here's what to expect from the show
This news will surely make your heart stop: Netflix's critically-acclaimed series Heartstopper is set to premiere its second season this August!
The streaming platform made the announcement through a short behind-the-scenes clip where the show's cast shared exciting details fans can expect from the upcoming episodes.
Kit Connor, who portrays popular rugby player Nick, highlighted that the second season has an "amazing script" and "feels cool and fresh, just a different vibe to season one."
Joe Locke, who plays Nick's love interest Charlie, shared that his character "goes on more of a journey" and that his story will have some more mature themes moving forward.
Another character that stands out in the series is Yasmin Finney's character Elle, who transferred to an all-girls school after she came out as transgender.
"There's so many things that happen with Elle this season that you're not ready for," Finney said. "I would say Elle is different in the sense that she's more confident. She surrounds herself with people who elevate her."
Adapted from the webcomic and graphic novel of the same name by Alice Oseman, Heartstopper tells a simple yet heartwarming story of a gay schoolboy named Charlie who falls head over heels with his seatmate Nick, while also exploring the lives and love stories of his other friends who are also part of the LGBTQ community.
Due to its inclusive portrayal and representation, the series garnered instant popularity, having claimed a spot on the top 10 English series on Netflix just two days after it premiered on April 22 last year.
The second season will premiere on August 3, 2023 with a third season already in the works.
