Park Bo Gum plays an Olympic gold medalist boxer in new drama 'Good Boy'

Good news, K-drama fans: Korean actor Park Bo Gum is set to grace the small screen once again as he will star in the upcoming JTBC drama Good Boy as an Olympic boxer.

On its social media pages, JTBC released the drama's first still featuring Bo Gum's character as Kim Dong-ju, a former South Korean Olympic boxer.

The series of photos showcased Bo Gum fighting against another contender while proudly wearing a blue uniform, highlighting his muscular and tanned physique. His character can also be seen proudly wearing a gold medal around his neck after winning the men's middleweight final.

According to Korean entertainment website Soompi, Good Boy follows the story of a group of Olympic medalists who became special police officers after experiencing setbacks, including financial difficulties, short career spans, and injuries.

As police officers, they become the "Olympic Avengers" who battle violent crime using the special abilities they developed as athletes.

Aside from Bo Gum, the drama features A-list Korean stars, such as Kim So Hyun, Oh Jung Se, Lee Sang Yi, Heo Sung Tae, and Tae Won Suk.

Good Boy is set to premiere in the second half of 2024.

Prior to this, the 31-year-old South Korean star starred in the fantasy film Wonderland alongside Bae Suzy, Choi Woo Shik, Chinese actress Tang Wei, and Jung Yu Mi.

He is also known for his portrayals in Reply 1988, Love in the Moonlight, Record of Youth, and Encounter. Additionally, he and singer-actress IU joined forces in the Netflix K-drama series titled When Life Gives You Tangerines.

Bo Gum is also set to star in an upcoming variety show dubbed My Name is Gabriel alongside Ji Chang Wook, Park Myung Soo, and Hong Jin Kyung.
