Red Velvet confirms full group comeback in August after 18 months
This is not a drill, Reveluvs. Red Velvet is finally returning as a full group!
South Korean girl group Red Velvet is set to make their long-awaited comeback in August, according to a statement from SM Entertainment. However, the comeback schedule is yet to be revealed.
The upcoming comeback will be Red Velvet’s first release as a group since their repackaged album “The ReVe Festival: Finale" that was released in December 2019.
The group’s activities have been on a halt since member Wendy was hospitalized after suffering from serious physical injuries in December 2019. Since Wendy’s hiatus, the remaining members have been active on the entertainment scene pursuing solo and unit projects.
Irene and Seulgi debuted as a sub-unit with the mini-album “Monster” in June 2020. They also released a music video for Naughty the following month.
Last month, Joy debuted as a solo artist with the remake album “Hello.”
Meanwhile, Yeri has ventured into acting with a lead role in Drama Stage Season 4: Mint Condition. She is set to star in the upcoming web drama Blue Birthday with PENTAGON’s Hongseok.
Wendy made her long-awaited return to the group when she participated in the production and music video of Milky Way in August 2020. Since then, she also made her debut as a solo artist with the mini-album “Like Water” in April 2021.
Red Velvet is composed of five members: Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri. The girl group debuted as a quartet in 2014, while Yeri joined in 2015.
The group is known for their hit songs Psycho, Bad Boy, Red Flavor, and Peek-A-Boo.
