After their multi-season stint at the Dundler Mifflin Paper Company, The Office co-stars Steve Carell and John Krasinski are reuniting once again for a new project.

Deadline reported that Krasinski, who previously helmed runaway hits A Quiet Place Part 1 and 2, is directing Paramount Pictures’ upcoming family movie, IF (Imaginary Friends).

On board in the upcoming movie is Carell, who will join previously announced cast such as Ryan Reynolds, Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Fiona Shaw. They will be joined by Louis Gossett Jr., Alan Kim, and The Walking Dead’s Cailey Fleming.

According to Deadline, Krasinski will star, direct, write and produce the original film via his company, Sunday Night, with partners Allyson Seeger and Andrew Form producing. Reynolds will also produce via his company, Maximum Effort, with George Dewey attached to executive produce.

Details about the upcoming film are still unknown but Deadline said that the story is based on Krasinski’s original idea about a child’s journey to rediscover their imagination. The film is set to hit theaters in Nov. 2023.

Meanwhile, Krasinski also confirmed the casting news on Instagram and said: Ah, what if one day I could assemble my dream cast? What… IF.”

First announced in 2019, the upcoming film from Paramount will be the first major project of Krasinski and Carell since they shut the doors to The Office.

Before their upcoming project, fans were previously treated with a mini The Office reunion when Carell appeared in Krasinski’s YouTube show Some Good News, where they briefly talked about some of their favorite moments in the hit TV sitcom.

In the beloved series, Krasinski played the role of Jim Halpert while Carrel portayed the character of Michael Gray Scott, the regional manager of Dundler Mifflin's Scranton branch.

After the multi-season run of The Office, Krasinski opted to be a filmmaker while Carell starred in Apple TV plus drama series The Morning Show and Netflix’s TV series, Space Force.

In other The Office news, an NBC Universal executive earlier revealed that a reboot of the beloved sitcom is within the realm of possibility.

Speaking to Deadline during a panel session at the Edinburgh International TV Festival last August, NBCU content chief Susan Rovner said that the decision to do a reboot of the Carrell-led sitcom is up to The Office showrunner Greg Daniels, who developed the US version of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's iconic British sitcom.

"Whenever Greg Daniels wants to do one, we're standing by," Rovner said after initially saying "no comment."

Although a revival of the show is not officially in development, Daniels told Collider last January that a reboot of The Office is "not impossible."

“No, but it’s not impossible. It’s not impossible for sure. I would want to be involved, and I’ve got two other shows I’m working on right now," Daniels said.

The Office ran from 2005 to 2013 for a total of nine seasons. Several years later, the NBC sitcom became the top streamed show in 2020 on Netflix with a total of 57 billion minutes streamed in the United States.

All nine seasons of the comedy show departed the streaming giant on Dec. 31, 2020 and moved to NBCUniversal's Peacock streaming service.
