First full trailer of live-action Monster Hunter has more monster goodness
Sony Pictures Entertainment just dropped a longer trailer for the live-action film Monster Hunter, and sure enough, the gorgeous yet deadly hordes of giant beasts are truly a sight to behold.
After releasing a 16-second teaser earlier this month, Sony decided it was time to unveil the first full trailer for the live-action adaptation of Capcom’s best-selling video game franchise.
The two-minute trailer shows off more of what’s in store for a film about hunting dinosaur-like monsters. In the film, Lt. Natalie Artemis (Milla Jovovich) is the leader of the platoon of a United Nations (UN) military unit that finds itself in the middle of a monster-infested world after passing through a sandstorm portal.
The squad soon finds out that their guns are pretty much useless against these beasts, so they team up with the Hunter (Tony Jaa) to take them down and prevent these monsters from crossing over our world.
The trailer also gives longer screen time for some recognizable monsters from the Capcom game, like the tri-horned Diablos and the flying wyvern, Rathalos. The game’s signature swords also take a bigger spotlight in the trailer, where Artemis trades her guns in favor of a big sword and pair of twin, flaming blades. She is also wearing some sort of crude, black leather armor and metallic, scaled arm guards.

The live-action film is based on the Monster Hunter game franchise that allowed players to explore and roam a vast open world, gain experience and acquire items to fight monsters in methodical, pitched battles.
Monster Hunter is scheduled to hit theaters this December.
