It seems that the Saw franchise isn't done playing its gruesome games just yet.

Horror media news site Bloody Disgusting has learned that a brand-new Saw film is under way and is set to be released on Oct. 27 next year—just in time for the spookiest holiday of the year.

According to their report, the film will be helmed by Kevin Greutert, who is already a familiar name within the Saw franchise and works of horror in general. Not only did he serve as the director of 2009's Saw VI as well as 2010's Saw: The Final Chapter, but he also edited numerous other Saw films.

The upcoming film will be the tenth one in the series. The Saw franchise was initially revived by 2017's Jigsaw after a seven year gap.

It was then followed by Spiral in 2021 starring Chris Rock, Max Minghella, and Samuel L. Jackson, which had grossed over $40 million worldwide last year.

While information about the plot and the characters are still in the dark, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures promised that the film will capture the hearts of fans with brutal and deadly traps and a new mystery to solve.

"We have been listening to what the fans have been asking for and are hard at work planning a movie that Saw aficionados and horror fans alike will love," franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules said.

The Saw franchise was first created by renowned horror director James Wan and Leigh Whannell, with the former serving as the director of the first film. The series revolves around a killer named John Kramer, who kidnaps people and tests their will to live by placing them in deadly traps and scenarios, where they will be forced to inflict pain upon themselves to survive.
