By now, all of us know that long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony and how everything changed (and was later resolved) when the fire nation attacked. Those who are missing the epic adventures of Aang and the gang from Avatar: The Last Airbender have something fun to add to their holiday binge-watchlist this December with the arrival of The Legend of Korra.

In a Tweet posted Monday (Dec. 7), Netflix Philippines confirmed that all four seasons of the hit anime would be dropping on the streaming service on December 15th.

As reported by What's on Netflix in August, Netflix US picked up The Legend of Korra, which raised hopes and caused confusion among fans everywhere when the series wasn’t made available in other regions. Now, months later, the follow-up series will finally be available in more global regions including most of Latin America, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines.

Avatar: The Last Airbender created by Bryan Konietzco and Michael Dante DiMartino originally aired back on Nickelodeon between 2005 to 2008. While ATLA enjoyed a cult following, the animated series got an even wider fanbase when it was released on Netflix earlier this year. In fact, it became one of the summer's most popular shows 15 years after its debut.

The wildly successful sequel The Legend of Korra is set in the same fictional universe of ATLA inhabited by members of four nations: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads, which some people having the ability to manipulate, or "bend", the elements of water, earth, fire, or air. Only one person, the "Avatar," can bend all four elements, and is responsible for maintaining balance in the world.

The Legend of Korra follows Avatar Korra, the successor of Aang from the previous series, as she faces political and spiritual unrest in a modernizing world, 70 years after the events of the first series.

Originally aired from April 14, 2012 to December 19, 2014, The Legend of Korra has a total of 52 episodes or "chapters", separated into four seasons called "books." Both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra have been continued as comic book series drawn in the same animation style.

In other news, Netflix is still pushing through on their live action series of Avatar: The Last Airbender, though unfortunately, original creators DiMartino and Konietzko anounced their departure from the project last August over creative differences concerning the streamer’s live-action adaptation.

All three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender are currently streaming on Netflix while The Legend of Korra is set to arrive on December 15, 2020.
