New monsters and areas appear in 'Monster Hunter Rise' game preview
Good news Monster Hunter fans! Soon, there will be a new entry into the best-selling Monster Hunter action RPG series.
Capcom has just dropped a new preview for the upcoming Nintendo Switch game, Monster Hunter Rise, featuring new monsters, fresh areas for players to explore and an early look at the mysterious “Rampage” events that threaten Kamura Village, the game’s primary location.
New monsters will be making their Monster Hunter debuts in Monster Hunter Rise. First up is the flying trickster Bishaten, characterized by a distinctive blue tail which it uses for multiple tail attack options and powerful spin moves, requiring hunters to stay on their toes or risk getting swept off their feet. Another unique threat is the Somnacanth, an intoxicating aquatic leviathan that can expel sleep powder to temporarily stun opponents, leaving them open for attacks.
This latest trailer also includes sightings of the scaly leviathan Royal Ludroth and the poisonous birdlike Great Wroggi, both of which are returning to join the growing roster of foes in Monster Hunter Rise.
Alongside new monsters are the new areas, the Shrine Ruins hunting grounds and the Flooded Forest area. Both will provide players the opportunity to explore and battle fierce monsters in this overgrown and waterlogged setting.
Another unique feature in the storyline is the puzzling “Rampage” event that threatens Kamura Village. Based on the preview, it appears that village residents and Monster Hunter Rise players will need to build up their defenses and prepare for the battle of their lifetimes. More information regarding the “Rampage” will be revealed soon.
A free Monster Hunter Rise demo will be released for the Nintendo Switch on January 2021. This free demo will give hunters the ability to try on new items and skills, including the Wirebug mechanic and Palamute companion, that can be used to track down and defeat hostile monsters.
The worldwide launch of the full Monster Hunter Rise game is scheduled for March 26, 2021.
