Ride in pride with Boy George as he gives you directions on Waze this month

Let your drives be a little more fun this Pride Month with the music and fashion icon helping you navigate the meanest roads in town.

For those who may not know, Boy George is an ‘80s pop icon known for his androgynous style peppered with glam and glitter. He was the lead vocals of the English Band Culture Club that gave us hits like Do You Really Want to Hurt Me and the ear-worm inducing Karma Chameleon.

He was also one of the judges on The Voice UK.

In celebration of Pride Month, navigation app Waze teamed up with Boy George and made the singer’s recognizable voice to navigate drivers along the way, allowing them to experience what it’s like to have Boy George in the passenger seat.

In the experience called “Tea Time with Boy George,” the singer will not just tell you where to turn, or give you a heads up on hazards ahead, Boy George will also impart words of wisdom like reminding you that life is about learning to be yourself—like having a nice tea-time chat in the car with your friend.

In partnering with the icon, Waze said that Boy George for decades “represented what it means to live authentically and unapologetically.”

It added, “Boy George uses his signature voice to create not only instant classics but also impassioned songs that shine a light on the movement to secure the rights and liberties of the LGBTQIA+ community around the world.”

The Tea Time with Boy George experience is available in the latest version of Waze until June 30.

Adding more sweetness to your tea time, Boy George has curated a special Pride playlist that includes his songs Good Intentions and Swoon, I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Help Me by Joni Mitchell, Take a Bow by Madonna and As by George Michael and Mary J. Blige.

According to Waze, each track has been selected to celebrate acceptance, freedom of expression, and love while following Boy George’s rule: “listen to the music you love; passion always eclipses what’s fashionable.”

The playlist can be streamed as you drive through the Waze Audio Player.

Tea Time with Boy George on Waze is available in the latest version of the app until June 30. Activate his voice navigation and you’re on your way to having a fun “tea time” with the icon.
