Billionaire American rapper and music executive Jay-Z will now mine the growing pot of opportunity in the burgeoning marijuana business through his new premium cannabis line under the brand dubbed Monogram.

Monogram is Jay-Z’s first joint undertaking with California weed company Caliva, which he joined as a brand strategist last year.

Based on the company’s portfolio, Jay-Z aims to weed out the competition by rolling out cannabis products between $40 to $70 under three strains, namely light, medium, and heavy.

“Cannabis has been around for thousands of years, yet it is still an industry whose legacy of skilled craftsmanship is often overlooked,” said Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter.

“I created Monogram to give cannabis the respect it deserves by showcasing the tremendous hard work, time and care that go into crafting a superior smoke. Monogram products are next level when it comes to quality and consistency and we’re just getting started,” the 51-year-old hip-hop icon added.

Jay-Z joins a growing list of celebrities that are trying to ride on the coattails of the growing cannabis industry, which is now being legalized in various areas in the United States. Other famous personalities in the pot business now include Snoop Dogg, Seth Rogen, and Jim Belushi among others.
