SB19’s new single 'Moonlight' is out now
SB19 dropped an upbeat track with spicy lyrics to compete with the summer heat!
P-pop superstars SB19 on May 3 released Moonlight, a collaboration single with US-based DJ Ian Asher, Chinese electro-music producer Terry Zhong, and Lenno Linjama.
SB19 member Justin de Dios directed the music video while Jay Roncesvalles directed the choreography.
In a release, SB19 said, “We’ve met Ian Asher during our tour in the US, and we were surprised at how talented and prolific he is at such a young age.”
“This kind of music is new to us. The production is very current yet experimental, but it also gives us room to explore and expand our horizons as artists,” SB19 said.
“The collaboration really brought out the best of all worlds, and being part of the process really opened our creative realm to exciting new possibilities,” SB19 added.
Justin said that the track’s “euphoric undertones” gave him the freedom to be inventive with its concept, even going so far as to "inject a little bit of craziness."
“The song has euphoric undertones lyrics-wise, so I wanted to play around with that concept and inject a little bit of craziness and out-of-this-world treatment,” Justin said.
Justin also said that the take for the music video is simple and minimalist, however, the choreography will elevate the visuals to a different level.
“I can’t really explain the concept without revealing too much. I’m just excited that this MV is in a totally different lane from anything that we’ve done in the past,” he added.
A’tin reacts to Moonlight
Hours before the audio release, the group dropped a music video teaser on their social media accounts. While the teasers hinted at an energetic electro bop, the lyrics for the single surprised the fans, A'tin, with a deeper layer they weren't anticipating.
The song delves into intimate desires and sensual longing, with lyrics like “Want you in every way. Want you to scream my name with my hands around your waist, yeah, I li-li-like. Doing what we do in the moonlight.”
One X user said, “Moonlight is like a sexy badass hiding behind a jolly fun beat. The more makikilala mo si Moonlight the more mo malalaman na hindi siya nangangalabit -nangangalmot siya. Rawr!”
Another X user also complimented the track, saying it goes along so well with SB19’s discography, “MOONLIGHT is the summer anthem we needed in SB19's discography. The energy is amazing from start to finish! It's WYAT's funk meets FREEDOM's liberating sound meets I WANT YOU's sensual vibe. Short but great replay value!”
