Casio unveils limited-edition G-Shock One Piece
One Piece is undeniably one of, if not, the most popular Japanese anime series we have today. Started out as a weekly shonen manga series in 1997, Eliichiro Oda’s hit anime manga featuring Monkey D. Luffy and his quest to becoming a pirate king immediately gained legions of fans across the globe even before its television adaptation in 1999.
That’s why Casio is commemorating the anime series’ success with a limited-edition G-Shock timepiece featuring the show’s main protagonist as its theme.
The GA110JOP-1A4 is based on the widely popular digital-analog GA-110 series. Using black as its base color, the entire timepiece is emblazoned with illustrations of the future pirate king.
The indicator dial in the 9 o’clock position sports Luffy’s straw hat while a ‘WANTED’ sign is adorned on the 3 o’clock position.
Additionally, when the hour and minute hands point to the 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions respectively, they combine and form a golden “X”, which represents the X-shaped scar on Luffy’s chest.
But Casio’s latest offering isn’t just about what you see, because it also comes with an array of G-Shock technology, which includes shock resistance, 200m water resistance, auto light switch, afterglow, world time, 29 time zones, full auto-calendar, countdown timer and approximate battery life of two years.
The G-Shock x One Piece timepiece has a retail price of $250 and will be available at select G-Shock retailers starting July 22.
