Aegis asks public to stop sharing false information about cause of Mercy Sunot's death
Aegis appealed to the public to respect their late bandmate, Mercy Sunot, and refrain from posting false information about what led to her passing.
The OPM rock band took their official Facebook page on Wednesday, Nov. 20 to shut down claims that Mercy had vices that contributed to her death.
Her sister and bandmate, Juliet Sunot, also clarified that she has not given any statement or interviews about the cause of Mercy's death.
“May I humbly ask then, that people refrain from tailoring stories about my sister Mercy, quoting me of statements I never made, and may we be allowed privacy while we draw in all that has happened to my sister,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
“Allow me to reiterate, I, Juliet Sunot of Aegis, had never communicated with anyone for interviews & had never made statements that Mercy was into any vices,” she added.
Mercy passed away on Nov. 18 after a battle with cancer. She was 48.
She marked her 48th birthday on Nov. 6 with her family. Prior to the celebration, she said her birthday wish was to be cancer-free.
Formed in 1995, Aegis comprises the Sunot sisters as well as Rey Abenoja, Stella Pabico, Rowena Adriano, and Vilma Goloviogo. They're known for the hits Luha, Halik, Sayang Na Sayang, Natawa Ako, and more.
