Apple's App Store and other services back online after widespread outage
The services of tech giant Apple—including the App Store, Apple TV+, and Apple Music—are back online after being down for over an hour on Thursday, April 4.
CNBC reported that the downtime update carried a time stamp of 6:31 p.m. Eastern time (6:31 a.m., Manila time). It was resolved by 7:35 p.m. ET (7:35 a.m., Manila time).
Apple Support’s System Status website has already marked the affected services as “available” through a green circle.
According to Reuters, about 6,400 App Store users in the United States reported issues at the peak of the outage based on tracker DownDetector. There were over 1,000 reports for Apple TV+ and Apple Music.
Several users took to social media to complain about the outage.
It wasn’t the first time that the App Store was having issues, since there were reported problems in 2022.
CNBC reported that Apple got 19% of the revenue from its Services category, including some from the App Store, based on the iPhone maker's latest quarterly report.
For most apps, developers keep all revenue they generate via the App Store. Apple, however, receives a commission when people buy individual apps and make in-app purchases.
