Cebu Pacific flew almost 13.5 million domestic passengers in 2022
Revenge travel is real.
Cebu Pacific on Friday, March 3, revealed that it flew about 13.5 million domestic passengers in 2022—312% higher compared to the previous year.
It also mentioned that in the fourth quarter of 2022, 4.4 million passengers flew to international countries like Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, while the volume of travelers going to long haul destinations rose to 14 percent.
"Higher travel demand both domestically and internationally, coupled with the easing of various travel regulations, drove the steep recovery for CEB in 2022," it said.
The local budget airline also noted that about 19.7 million seats were sold and 108,300 flights were flown in 2022, almost 92 percent of its pre-pandemic capacity.
As part of its efforts to revive the market, Cebu Pacific previously announced that they added new domestic and international destinations to and from Cebu, their second largest base, and Clark, their third operating hub in the Philippines.
The airline has added 13 domestic and international routes from Clark, including Caticlan, Davao, Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, General Santos, Cagayan de Oro, and Puerto Princesa for domestic, and Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Narita, and Macao for iternational.
And to ramp up efforts to drive more travelers, Cebu Pacific is running a Piso sale from March 3-4, for as low as P1 one-way base fare, exclusive of fees and surcharges to all domestic and selected international destinations.
Before the travel restrictions were implemented, the airline accumulated a total of 22.47 million passengers in 2019 until it dropped to five million passengers in 2020.
