Mattel Adventure Park featuring Barbie's beach house is set to open in 2024
Buckle up, Barbie fans. Barbie Land is no longer just a thing of the movies, as Mattel is opening a massive theme park that features iconic parts of the famous doll's pink and perky world.
Set to open in 2024, Mattel Adventure Theme Park is located in VAI Resort in Glendale, Arizona, and will comprise rides and attractions based on the toy company's top brands, like Barbie, Hot Wheels, Thomas & Friends, Masters of the Universe, and more.
According to Mattel Adventure’s press release, parkgoers can enjoy a unique indoor/outdoor setup all year round at the massive 9-acre destination.
Among the anticipated attractions—especially for Barbie fans—is the life-size Barbie Beach House. Here, you can jump into a Barbie Dream Closet Experience plus get up close with the American doll through the holographic image used in the attraction.
The house will also offer a rooftop bar and restaurant where families and friends can enjoy panoramic views of the resort.
Meanwhile, Hot Wheels lovers can get a thrill on the 84-foot-high roller coaster dubbed "Bone Shaker: The Ultimate Ride." There's also the Twin Mill Racer roller coaster for when want a lesser dose of adrenaline rush.
Kids of all ages can also expect to experience a different kind of adventure high with the larger-than-life custom climb UNO Stacko.
Little ones are set for more fun at the experiential attractions and indoor play space in Thomas & Friends: World of Sodor, as well as a nine-hole mini-golf experience inspired by Magic 8 Ball, Pictionary, and other beloved Mattel games.
"Mattel Adventure Park is an amazing opportunity to bring our beloved brands to life," said Julie Freeland, Mattel's senior director of Global Location Based Entertainment. “Construction is underway and substantial progress has been made on what will give fans of all ages a day of thrills and nostalgia. We’re especially excited for families to experience the Hot Wheels Bone Shaker rollercoaster—a dream come true for any Hot Wheels fan.”
According to Thrillist, Mattel Adventure Park was initially set to open its gates in 2023. However, the park's live construction camera so far shows that only one of its Hot Wheels roller coasters is close to completion.
