Lola Nena’s Triple Cheese Donut Ice Cream now exists—here’s what to expect
It used to be just a dream… but now, Lola Nena’s Triple Cheese Donut is already available in ice cream form.
Lola Nena’s has been a popular merienda for many Filipinos. While it’s been famous for its best-selling pichi-pichi since its 2012 launch, the food brand later gained more love and praises for its cheese donut.
Pinoy foodies enjoy it in different ways: air-fried or baked, microwaved, pan-seared, and waffle-pressed. Just when we thought that was it, Merry Moo Ice Cream stepped up and collaborated with Lola Nena’s to make the experience even more delightful for all.
Priced at P450 per pint, the Triple Cheese Donut Ice Cream features a “doughnut ice cream base, mixed with generous amounts of doughnut chunks and cheese bits.” We can delight in it as is, or better yet, have it with the heated classic donut for the perfect combo.
In an interview with PhilSTAR L!fe, the ice cream brand’s owner Kelvin Ngo—who calls himself its “Chief Ice Cream Officer”—gave a few details on how the new flavor came about. “To properly infuse it into our ice cream, we steeped Lola Nena’s dough in Merry Moo’s sweet cream base for more than 12 hours. We also mixed in pieces of their signature donut and cheesy chunks to add texture and give contrast to the creaminess of the ice cream.”
The result? A heavenly blend of the beloved features of Merry Moo and Lola Nena’s: “It’s buttery and creamy, sweet yet with a tinge of saltiness,” he said, adding that each bite “brings back a happy childhood memory. It’s really a great treat for our summer ahead.”
The new offering is currently sold out on Merry Moo’s official website, but don’t fret—it will be available at Lola Nena’s Xavierville and Jupiter Street branches starting tomorrow, Mar. 3.
