Tourists visiting South Korea no longer need to submit a negative COVID-19 test result
ICYMI, South Korea is easing travel restrictions as visiting tourists no longer need to undergo COVID-19 testing to enter the country.
The rule relaxation took effect on Sept. 3. However, travelers will still need to undergo post-entry polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing 24 hours after their arrival.
Short-term visitors can get tested at the COVID-19 testing center inside the Incheon International Airport or at a nearby medical clinic at their own expense. On the other hand, those staying for long term can get tested at a public health center.
Visitors are advised to stay in their accommodation until they get a negative test result, which they have to upload on the Q-code website.
In April, the country lifted quarantine requirements for vaccinated tourists and in July, dropped the measure for all travelers, regardless of their vaccination status. Wearing face masks outdoors is also no longer mandated, but people still have to mask up indoors.
Meanwhile, other countries like Japan and Taiwan have ditched pre-entry testing requirements.
