Manila bans daytime karaoke, videoke
No more loud singing during the day to give children studying at home some peace and quiet.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso signed Ordinance No. 8688 yesterday, Oct. 9, banning the use of karaoke, videoke and other sound-producing devices from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
The ban is in response to parents complaining about community noise as their children are attending online school in their homes.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Educaton has suspended physical classes and shifted to blended system for the entire schoolyear.
The first offense carries a fine of P1,000; second offense, P2,000; third and succeeding offenses, P3,000.
Moreno signed the ordinance with Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan at Majority Floor Leader Joel Chua.
He ordered all barangay and police officials to enforce the ordinance.
