Feline-friendly: Woman builds house for her 300-plus pet cats
How much do you love your furry friends? For this woman, she went so far as to build a house for them!
On the Home Buddies private Facebook group of over 2.9 million members, Imelda Magallano posted her finished project for her pet cats.
Magallano captioned: “Flex ko lang dati isang pusa lang ang hinihimas ko pero ngayon 300 plus na sila at dahil love ko sila pinagawan ko sila nang malaking bahay.”
As shown in her photos, the structure she had built indoors for her cats is made up of wooden beams and platforms surrounded by white concrete walls and metal grates. The cat house is spacious enough to fit her 300+ puspins or pusang Pinoy – a common term for domestic short hair cats – of all colors.
Magallano’s number of pets did not balloon out of breeding. Instead, the cat woman rescued most of them, which are mainly males, though Magallano also had her cats castrated for good measure.
To look after her many feline friends, Magallano commissions helpers who assist in cleaning the litter boxes, grooming, and feeding her pets.
Her post on the Facebook group page reaped over 61,000 reacts from its page members and various comments from users, ranging from those who were amazed by her many pets to netizens joking Magallano to adopt them as her pets. One Facebook user wrote: “Marunong din po ako mag meow... meowwww.”
In June 2021, Magallano also posted her purr-babies’ previous living situation, where her cats have their own room inside her house.
Magallano also often feeds the strays that linger around her neighborhood, as one Facebook user who lives near her street attested: “walking distance to sa bahay naming. sila nag papakain sa pusa sa kalye namin... sana kunin niya na lahat.” A true meow-my indeed!
