Makati Shangri-La to reopen in August after over two-year shutdown
Makati Shangri-La is reopening its doors on Aug. 8 after shutting down for over two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a Facebook post on June 14, the hotel establishment shared a video teaser of the hotel grounds while lights gradually open, as "Something is happening in Makati..." flashed on the screen. The money shot was the brand's logo finally becoming visible.
"It’s time to light up Makati!" Makati Shangri-La said in its post. "We are delighted to welcome guests back to the iconic Makati Shangri-La, Manila from 8 August 2023."
Makati Shangri-La then shared a link leading to its website where guests can make a room reservation.
It also changed its banner photo with the hashtag, #FreshBeginnings.
In January 2021, the management said it was “parting ways with a number of colleagues and we will be temporarily closing” as part of its “reorganization exercise.”
It added that it was forward to reopening at a later date, “when business conditions have improved.”
Located at the heart of Makati, considered a premier financial and commercial district, the hotel boasts of 696 rooms and is surrounded by shopping malls and nightlife sites.
