Something's brewing: Uniqlo to open first in-store cafe in Makati this Oct. 13

We've all seen this scenario at the mall: bored-looking partners standing awkwardly while they wait for their other halves shop. Now, they won't have to at this store. If you, your partner, or even the whole family need a new cool hangout place after shopping, we know just the place.

Uniqlo Coffee (yes, you read that right!) will open its first-ever in-store cafe in Uniqlo’s Global Flagship store on the 2nd floor of Glorietta 5 on Oct. 13. 

“As we launch here in the Philippines, we wanted to collaborate with local Filipino farmers for us to have the source of coffee beans in our beverages,” Niña Garcia, the Merchandise Planning Manager of the Uniqlo branch, said on Oct. 11 during their anniversary’s celebration. 

She also shared that the pastries menu incorporates both Japanese and Filipino elements, aligning the food twist to where it originated and where it is located.  

“We will make it warm and friendly for you all. We wanted you to rest after a long day of shopping here in this spot,” Garcia added. “At the same time, please make this [...] a place for you to connect with your family and relatives.” 

The menu includes Cookies (P90), An Pan (P90), Pan de Sal, (P30), and Smoked Salmon Panini (P230).

Meanwhile, their drinks, which are sourced locally from Filipino farmers, include Americano (PHP 140), Cafe Latte (PHP 160), and Spanish Latte (PHP 180). There's also Hot Chocolate (P140) for non-coffee drinkers.

Along with the cafe’s opening on Friday, Uniqlo will introduce exclusive promos and give away freebies at the same branch from Oct. 13 to 16.  

The Japanese casual wear brand initially revamped a cafe-type offshoot in 2021 at its global flagship store in Tokyo, Japan. The shop, also called Uniqlo Coffee, served caffeine-induced drinks at affordable prices with good views from Ginza’s upmarket districts.
