South Korean embassy to accept walk-in visa applications starting Aug. 29

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines will be accepting walk-in visa applications once again starting August 29, 2023.

In an announcement on changes on their visa application policy posted their website on Thursday, July 13, the Korean Embassy in Manila said said online reservations will no longer be required for a Korean Visa by the end of next month.

“Walk-in visa applications at KVAC will be accepted on any working day. There will be no limit as to the number of visa applications accepted per day,” according to the latest advisory.

The move is in line with the launch of a new Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) located at the Brittany Hotel in BGC, Taguig City, set to open on August 14, 2023.

The current online visa appointment system launched last September 2022 will end after the last opening of slots for the month of August. Once the KVAC begins its pilot launch from August 14 to 25, the South Korean Embassy will stop accepting visa applications, and releasing passports and visas.

However, online reservations will still be required for visa applications filed from August 1 to 25, 2023.

Online reservation slots for the month of August will open on July 27, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. Applications with online reservations will be accepted at the Korean Embassy from August 1 to 11. Meanwhile, applications with online reservation will be accepted at KVAC starting August 14 to 25.

Once KVAC starts official operations on August 29, 2023, visa applications will be accepted only if filed in person or through one of the designated travel agencies. According to the embassy's advisory, the list of designated travel agencies for 2022 remains valid, with updates to be announced at a later date.

Last month, South Korea also began accepting e-Group visa applications for regular tourists amid the high travel demand.
