ACEN campaigns spur shift to renewable energy

Published Jul 15, 2024 2:00 pm

ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES), the retail energy supply unit of ACEN, is at the forefront of promoting the transition to renewable energy (RE) for businesses and educational institutions in the Philippines. It spurred the switch to RE through its comprehensive and impactful digital campaigns to foster a greener and sustainable future.

Following the successful launch of its “A Force for Nature” introductory video in 2022, ACEN RES leveraged its digital platforms to supercharge its reach. It developed strategic video campaigns to engage businesses eligible for the government's Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) and encourage them to explore RE, highlighting the environmental impact reduction while allowing business operations to be more efficient.

ACEN RES tackled the limited awareness of the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) with its "You Have a Choice" campaign. This initiative sought to educate eligible businesses about their power to choose their electricity provider. The campaign featured real-life testimonials from customers who switched to RE with ACEN RES, showcasing the tangible benefits they reaped.

ACEN RES launched the "It's Easy to Switch" digital campaign to debunk misconceptions about the complexity of switching to RE. This initiative focused on two key messages: switching to RE supply does not disrupt business operations and is a more viable solution for most businesses since no upfront cost is required. Unlike rooftop solar which requires capital and carries maintenance burdens, switching to RE supply is a smooth transition that can save most businesses money.

Finally, “Switching to Renewable Energy” addresses the core concerns of business owners: cost savings and operational efficiency. ACEN RES underscored in the campaign that switching to RE enables customers to enjoy savings on their electricity bills while also contributing to the efforts to stem climate change.

In 2023, ACEN RES's data-driven digital campaigns achieved phenomenal results. Its targeted social media efforts on Meta and LinkedIn reached a staggering 6.5 million people, exceeding industry benchmarks by a remarkable 75x. This success translated into significant brand awareness and customer affinity for ACEN RES.

Separately, these campaigns garnered prestigious accolades, including a coveted Anvil Award, often referred to as the "Oscars of Public Relations" in the Philippines, and a Gold Stevie Award from the International Business Awards, further solidifying the Ayala retail electricity unit's excellence in promoting renewable and sustainable energy solutions.

ACEN RES is the retail electricity unit of ACEN, an Ayala company with the largest capacity of new RE in the country. Moreover, ACEN stands out as the sole Filipino-owned energy company with substantial renewable ventures throughout the Asia Pacific, including in Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, and Lao PDR.

In a landmark move for the region, ACEN unveiled a Net Zero roadmap in March 2023, positioning itself as the first Southeast Asian energy company to chart a clear course for emissions reduction by 2050. This initiative underscores ACEN's leadership in the renewable sector and its dedication to global climate action.
