LOOK: This coffee shop in England introduces cups you can eat after coffee

While many stores are eliminating single-use plastics, this coffee retailer has introduced an edible drinking cup that you can hold your coffee in before eating it for later.

Zero Green, located in Bristol, England, has a smart and sustainable way of decreasing plastic waste in the world through an edible coffee cup. Established in 2018, the coffee store is known for its eco-friendly means of encouraging purchasers to bring their own cups when buying beverages inside.
 
"These cups provide a fun (and tasty!) alternative for those that really want to take their coffee to go, but don't have a cup. They are also a a great talking point - and we all need to be talking about sustainable switches as much as we can," it said in a Facebook post. 

The 'Cupffee' cups are made from wheat and barley that are thicker and taste similar to the ice cream wafer that can last longer around 40 minutes with a hot drink before it becomes soft and wet. These low-calorie cups come in small and large sizes that are as light as a cookie and can be shipped worldwide, according to the company. 

“It’s specifically designed to take hot drinks, it lasts about 40 minutes with hot water in it, and then it’ll go a bit soggy, so make sure you eat it before then,” a barista told the Bristolpost. 

“It’s a good zero-waste option. We also, obviously, fill any cups that anyone brings in because reuse is better than use once, but this is as close to a zero waste cup as we can get,” he added.

The innovation is an effort to come up with biodegradable options before the ban on single-use plastic including polystyrene and plastic cups, takes effect on October 1 across England.
