Kris Aquino tells son Bimby's bashers: ‘The bullying you are doing is a reflection of your homophobic attitudes’
Outside her social media activities, Kris Aquino has remained quiet and relatively on the down-low. But she is ready to be in the spotlight to defend her two sons, Bimby and Joshua.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, March 7, the 50-year-old TV host-actress slammed online bashers and bullies who have been harassing and posting hurtful comments about her children.
“I am not blind, and I am not stupid. In a span of a week, my children have been used to trigger me,” she wrote. “Kuya Josh with zero factual basis was said to have impregnated a girl. Bimb has been repeatedly targeted with bullying because people are insisting he is gay.”
In particular, Kris addressed the rumor from earlier this week that her son Joshua got a girl pregnant—an issue she already dismissed in a separate Instagram post day prior.
Kris wrote in her latest Instagram post: “Regarding Kuya Josh, name us and show us the name of the girl.”
She also addressed internet talk speculating about Bimby’s sexual orientation.
Kris said, “About Bimb, he is 13 years old, I know my son doesn’t identify as being gay BUT in the event he ever does, he will still be my son. The bullying you are doing is a reflection of your homophobic attitudes that are no longer welcome in 2021.”
She added, “What is very clear to me is that some people cannot stand the fact that despite all their efforts to bury me, I am still standing. And they must be cringing that at a time when our country is hungry and struggling, as a private citizen, I am doing my part with my hard earned money, to share with those in need.”
“You picked the wrong children to harass and bully because this mother knows your motives… What does a lioness do when her cubs are threatened? She attacks.”
Online conversation about Bimby was ignited online earlier this week when Kris posted a video of herself with Bimby and designer Michael Leyva. In one instance in the video, the clip of which turned viral on Twitter, Kris can be seen scolding Bimby for covering his mouth while laughing.
Many saw this as Kris protecting Bimby from online bashers who might comment on the said mannerism and make assumptions about his sexuality because of it.
Just a daily reminder that people's voice pitch or physical movement doesn't represent their sexual or gender identity. Believe me, gaydar ain't a real thing, just ask politely and respect their answer. https://t.co/FdgUXq3DfS

You know what’s heartbreaking? Kris telling Bimb not to do that with her fingers not because she doesn’t accept him for what he is but because they’re on camera & she knew Bimb will be ridiculed again over the internet for being effeminate :( https://t.co/w2Bk5azRvR

A number of Twitter users came to Bimby’s defense, explaining that physical mannerism or voice tone does not determine one’s sexual orientation and gender identity.
This isn’t the first time Kris and Bimby addressed this issue. In a 2017 vlog, Bimby said he is aware that people think he’s a “homosexual.”
Kris tells Bimby in the 2017 vlog, a clip of which also circulates on Twitter, “Don’t be homophobic, right? That’s the whole message. And whatever your choice in life is, that’s your choice.”

“Why would you judge a child?” Bimby asked, facing the camera.
“Don’t judge a child and don’t make the decision for the child,” Kris said.
