Behold, the first batch of IKEA products has arrived in the Philippines
Listen up, home buddies! The first batch of IKEA products has reached Philippine soil!
The highly anticipated opening of IKEA Philippines, said to be the largest in the world to date, is just around the corner and the Swedish company’s first items arriving in the country is stirring much excitement from Pinoys who have been waiting for the store to open its doors.
“Today, IKEA Philippines celebrates an important milestone!” The company posted on its Facebook page Monday night.
“Our first batch of IKEA range has finally arrived in IKEA Pasay City. We can’t wait to unbox these and make them available to the many Filipinos,” the company said.
Along with the post are photos of a container van full of crates and IKEA personnel working the forklift to move the items.
The soon-to-open branch has about 65,000 sq.m. of floor space, which is equivalent to 150 basketball courts, located at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City. Definitely more than enough space for those who missed how physically shopping was like pre-pandemic. This time, shopping at this massive IKEA would mean a full leg and arm workout!
IKEA Philippines is reportedly set to open its online operations ahead of the physical store’s opening in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Aside from its home items that are swoon-worthy, especially for those who are fans of Scandinavian chic, one of the things to look forward to is its famed Swedish meatballs, which will also make a debut for a taste of Sweden in the Philippines. Its in-house restaurant will also reportedly carry local favorites for Filipinos to enjoy.
IKEA has over 400 stores in 52 countries, including in our Southeast Asian neighbors Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
