A historical P2 million aparador and P1 million bed is up for grabs in Salcedo Auction's first major collection of the year
Philippine furniture like you've never seen before.
For their first major auction of the year, Salcedo Auctions will be hosting the "Important Philippine Art & Furniture, including Tribal & Ethnographic Art," highlighting works ranging from the country’s modern master artists to established contemporary artists.
Collectors will be spoiled for choice with Salcedo Auction's curated selection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, and original fine prints, as well as furniture and objets d’art of exquisite craftsmanship.
Celebrating the nation's tangible history over nearly a decade, the annual auction serves as the trusted benchmark of the Philippine art market as can be seen in a selection of highlights.
The collection ranges from works from 2003 National Artist José Joya to an exceptionally made aparador made by the talleres (workshop) of Isabelo Tampinco, one of the greatest Filipino sculptors at the turn of the 20th century.

Another key piece is the original and unrestored Ah Tay ilustrado matrimonial bed. The calabasa bed by famed Chinese artisan Ah Tay remains one of the most coveted pieces of furniture in our history with its fine workmanship and imposing regal elegance that remain as testament to the lasting and mystical legacy of the artisan.

Finally, the last aparador also in the collection is the exquisite Bulacan tambol aparador. At the turn of the century, only the wealthiest had the rich patina and extravagant scale furniture pieces in their homes.
