What’s in the world’s most expensive French fries that are worth $200 or P10,000 per serving?
Even French fries are now considered a luxury.
I’m talking about the Crème de la Crème Pomme Frites, which has recently earned a spot in the Guinness World Records (GWR) as the most expensive French fries in the world. Crafted by creative chef Joe Calderone and corporate executive chef Fredrick Schoen-Kiewert, it boasts of premium ingredients that all add up to the $200 dish (P10,000). Among them are:
- Upstate Chipperbeck potatoes;
- Dom Perignon Champagne;
- LeBlanc French Champagne Ardenne Vinegar;
- batches of pure cage-free goose fat from France;
- Guerande Truffle Salt;
- truffle oil;
- Crete Senesi Pecorino Tartufello cheese;
- shaved black summer truffles from Italy;
- truffle butter;
- organic A2 100% grass-fed cream from Jersey Cows;
- Gruyere Truffled Swiss Raclette that has been aged for three months; and
- 23k edible gold dust.
“To make the fries, the potatoes are first blanched in Dom Perignon Champagne and J. LeBlanc French Champagne Ardenne Vinegar to give the initial bite a touch of sweet decadence and acid,” the Guinness World Records explained. After that, it’s cooked three times in pure goose fat from Southwest France until the outer shell achieves the right crisp.
For the Mornay sauce that it comes with, truffle butter, flour, and organic A2 100% grass-fed cream from Jersey Cows are used. “Cubes of Gruyere Truffled Swiss Raclette are folded into the mixture, adding a thick creaminess that quite closely resembles a fondue,” the GWR continued.
Garnishes of shaved truffle, Crete Senesi Pecorino Tartufello cheese, and 23k edible gold dust complete the dish, which is then placed on a Baccarat crystal Arabesque Plate.
According to the guidelines, the expensive offering “must be available for purchase to the public, and an unbiased customer is required to buy it, to qualify for the title.”
The recently re-opened restaurant Serendipity3 in Manhattan, New York has recently served the pricey fries to one guest recently. The restaurant is also the home of other record-setting offerings such as the most expensive milkshake, most expensive sandwich, and most expensive dessert in the world.
