Siargao among Condé Nast Traveller’s best islands in the world
The teardrop-shaped island of Siargao is once again on the list of Best Islands in the World.
Conde Nast Traveller released its Readers Choice Award 2021 on Oct. 5 with categories in hotels, spas, islands, cities, ski resorts, cruises, villa rentals, airlines and tour operators.
“The past year has been like no other—for obvious reasons—and the repercussions for the travel industry have been severe. So our annual travel awards feel like a celebration of all that is good and wonderful and inspirational in the world, a reason to support the people and places that rely on us to survive,” the website prefaced.
For Best Islands in the World, Siargao in the Philippines is named the best in Asia. For Europe, it’s Hvar, Croatia; St. Barth’s in the Caribbean and Atlantic; Bora Bora in Australia and the South Pacific; Bazaruto Archipelago in Africa and the Indian Ocean; Islas Secas in Panama in Central and South America; and Cape Breton island in North America.
Surfing paradise Siargao has consistently made it to world’s top island destinations.
The island in Mindanao is under GCQ from Oct. 1 to 31 with the entire province of Surigao del Norte under Alert Level 4. Intrazonal and Interzonal travel is allowed subject to the mandatory travel protocols and the following requirements listed below.
Regardless of vaccination status, tourists are required to have a negative RT-PCR test result or COVID-19 saliva test taken within 48 hours of travel. They are also required to take an antigen test at their own expense 5 days from their arrival.
Visitors may secure their E-Health Pass at https://covid19.ssct.edu.ph/sdn/register/healthpass. All requirements—including confirmed accommodation booking of at least 2 nights in a resort, hotel or hostel accredited by the DOT—must be emailed to the Provincial Tourism Office to sdntourism@gmail.com.
