Explore real-life filming locations in this ‘Game of Thrones’ cruise sailing this 2022
Are you a Game of Thrones fan eager to explore Kings Landing, Meereen, Westeros or Qarth in real life? A real-life cruise sailing from Croatia this 2022 will let you do just that.
To celebrate the launch of HBO's Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, Sail Croatia is offering a special cruise that will take fans around the filming locations used in the TV adapatation of George R.R. Martin's novels, minus encounters with dragons and White Walkers.
The cruise, which begins and ends in the city of Split (the second-largest city in Croatia), will sail along the Dalmatian Coast for seven days on a luxury small ship. The cruise will sail to locations where some of the most jaw dropping landscapes seen in the hit HBO series were filmed, including the Red Keep, Blackwater Bay, and the infamous Walk of Shame, where Queen Cersei endured her punishment.
After visiting the mainland destination of Makarska and Korcula, the cruise will set sail for Dubrovnik, an ancient city that served as the main filming location for Kings Landing. Here, guests can go on a guided tour with a "Game of Thrones" expert and hunt down various filming locations.
Those who join the cruise will also have the opportunity to actually sit on the Iron Throne, explore the stand-in location for the city of Qarth, Lokrum Island, and discover Klis Fortress, the filming location for the city of Meereen.
"This Game of Thrones cruise is the perfect blend of sightseeing, relaxing and socializing, allowing fans to immerse themselves in famous filming locations while exploring the very best of Croatia," said Sail Croatia director Grant Seuren said in a news release.
Guests will sail aboard the Mali Ante, a modern and comfortable ship rebuilt in 2013, that features wide open decks, a jacuzzi, a large dining salon and a swimming platform. The comfy cabins onboard the cruise ship offer the perfect space to rest and unwind.
Here's everything you can do during the cruise based on the itinerary highlights:
