‘Tatay talaga yung hinahanap?’ Rabiya Mateo jokes as she confesses being attracted to older men
Rabiya Mateo got real about love and relationships on national television, where she said she gets attracted to older men.
In an interview on The Boobay and Tekla Show, she pleaded “guilty” of having dated gents who are older than her. “Oo, kasi diba wala nga akong dad,” she said, “so siguro yung hinahanap ko sa relationship is somebody na mag-aalaga sa akin.”
“Tatay talaga yung hinahanap?” the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 titleholder, who was raised by her single mom since she was five, added with a laugh.
Mateo continued on to share that she and her ex had a three-year gap, but she once dated someone who is seven years older than her. “Siguro nasa 30s na siya nun,” she shared.
When asked if she wouldn't mind dating someone in his 50s, the 24-year-old joked: “Fifty, hindi ko alam. Magaaral po muna ako ng caregiving. Charot!”
She stressed, however, that love has no bounds. “Tignan naman natin. Kung kayong dalawa, nasa legal age naman diba and if it’s love, diba wala tayong magagawa dun? Love has no gender, it has no age. Basta legal kayong dalawa.”
It can be recalled that she and her longtime boyfriend Neil Salvacion confirmed their breakup in June, just one month after the 69th Miss Universe pageant. When the latter auditioned for reality show Pinoy Big Brother, he seemingly alluded to Mateo when he talked about losing someone he loved amid the pandemic. "Nakakalungkot pala maiwan ka ng taong minahal mo dahil sa pangarap nitong korona," he said in his video entry.
Mateo is set to crown the next Miss Universe Philippines soon. The coronation night was initially scheduled for Sept. 25, but it has been postponed to a later date due to the pandemic.
