Want the actual Hallyu beyond smartphones and computers? AirAsia Philippines is resuming flights to Seoul starting June 14 as South Korea opens visa applications to Filipino tourists this month.

In a release, AirAsia Philippines said there will be three flights to the South Korean capital every week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Travel time from Manila to Seoul is about five hours, with a 5:35 PM departure time from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 and an estimated arrival time of 10:40 PM at the Incheon International Airport, according to the carrier.

AirAsia Philippines spokesman Steve Dailisan said reopening flights to Seoul is expected to bring "tremendous growth," noting the airline is already at 80% of its pre-COVID frequency levels.

"With additional flights, we expect tremendous growth in our ancillary businesses like baggage, meals, and even hot seats," Dailisan said. "The situation is truly looking up for all lines of businesses in aviation this year.”

Seoul is a vibrant city where skyscrapers, subways, Buddhist temples, palaces, and street markets converge. It's the latest in AirAsia's reactivated international destinations, including Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia and Hong Kong.
