#TripTips: How to get to NAIA airport terminals for your flights from Sept. 2022 onwards

One of the major hassles of air travel for those based in Metro Manila is getting to and from the airport.

We know precisely how taxing it is to commute to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). With the stress that you may already get from the need to arrive on time and going through bad traffic, it’s likely that you’re already praying that your mode of transport would not cause you any delays. 

While it's possible (and cheaper) to ride regular buses or other public transport options, it may not be the best option for those carrying heavy luggage or in a rush to get to the airport on time.

For those on revenge travel mode set to catch a flight later this month, here’s a quick guide on the most convenient transport options to NAIA when you need to catch a flight.

UBE Express 

For those who want to take a shuttle service to and from NAIA, UBE Express’ premium shuttle service offers rides to Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 4. As of this writing, five terminals are open for the airport bus service: Araneta City; Robinsons Place Manila; Robinsons Sta. Rosa; Ayala Malls South Park; and the Victory Liner Pasay Terminal, starting Sept. 1, 2022.

Recently, UBE Express announced its comeback in Victory Liner’s Pasay Terminal. The point-to-point trip started on September 1 with the regular fare set to P150 for all NAIA terminals. Operating hours daily are from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm with trip intervals every hour. UBE Express has also teased the possibility of free rides in line with the coming Christmas season.

For updated schedules for the regular UBE Express shuttle buses, be sure to check UBE Express's social media pages. Their most current listing is still for July 2022, but schedules could be updated in the future.

Hail a metered taxi 

For those who want to get to NAIA without having to share a seat with strangers, you can flag down a cab or head to the nearest taxi dispatch station in your city.

If you’re living in the South of Metro Manila, you can head to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) where you can catch a cab to NAIA. Their line for taxi has been around since 2019 and it has allowed passengers to get a ride a lot easier instead of trying to flag a ride down from random areas. 

Regular white taxis, which have much cheaper flagdown rates compared to the Yellow-Metered Airport Taxis and Coupon taxis with fixed rates depending on the distance traveled, are also available from the airport, though the lines from there can be pretty long. Take note that Yellow-metered taxis are usually 50% more expensive than the regular taxis. 

Make sure to check if your driver has their meter turned on throughout the ride. Try not to give in when a taxi driver strikes you with a “kontrata” deal by asking for a fixed price on your ride. Worst case scenario, you might be paying double the amount of what you’re supposed to pay with an active meter. 

Book with different ride-hailing apps 

Don’t want to go through the stress of commuting while carrying around your luggage? If you want to catch a ride right outside the comfort of your home, consider booking a car with ride-sharing apps like Grab. Prices may differ from various locations, but the comfort and hassle-free experience of catching a ride from your home to NAIA is well worth the slightly increased transportation fee.
