Brad Pitt let elderly man live in his P2 billion home rent-free until he died—report
Brad Pitt reportedly let an elderly man live in his former property in Los Angeles, California for free until the latter died at 105 years old.
According to a report by PEOPLE, Pitt bought the place from Elvira star Cassandra Peterson for $1.7 million (P94 million) in 1994 and sold it nearly three decades later for $40 million (P2 billion) in March this year.
Peterson revealed in an interview with the media outlet that the Academy Award-winning actor allowed the man named John, whose wife has passed away, “to live there without paying anything” until his death.
"He was very, very kind to the husband. His wife passed away and the husband, John, lived there. I know that Brad allowed him to live there without paying anything until he died,” she said.
Their deal began when Pitt started looking for other properties to purchase in the city.
“I think there were like 22 houses that were contiguous to the edge of the property, and every time they came up, he bought one,” Peterson recalled, sharing that one of the houses Pitt liked used to be owned by the elderly man when he was younger. The movie star reportedly permitted the man to stay in the luxurious estate rent-free when it hit the market.
Pitt sold the 1.9-acre property last month, according to real estate sources gathered by TMZ. It’s reported to have a 6,700 square-feet main house with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a skate park, a ballroom, a movie theatre, a motorcycle garage, a stone house, and a huge Koi pond. Trees and lush greeneries in the sprawling compound provided Pitt with much privacy.
The Hollywood A-lister lived there with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie and their six children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne—before they called it quits in 2016.
TMZ reported that Pitt is moving to Carmel in Northern California.
