Three Intramuros sites reopen to the public starting Feb. 17

Published Feb 16, 2021 7:13 am

Intramuros is ready to accept visitors for three of its sites—Fort Santiago, Casa Manila Museum, and Baluarte de San Diego—starting tomorrow, Feb. 17.

The Intramuros Administration’s announcement came following the Inter-Agency Task Force’s (IATF’s) Resolution allowing businesses and industries (including parks, cultural centers and historical landmarks) under general community quarantine (GCQ) areas to reopen, subject to operational guidelines.

For tomorrow’s reopening schedule, Intramuros' three sites will open at 2 p.m. But for their regular operation hours starting Feb. 18, Fort Santiago will be open daily from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Casa Manila Museum, from Tuesday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Baluarte de San Diego, Saturday and Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The rest of the attractions in the Walled City—including the Dungeons, Museo ni Rizal and Asean Gardens—are still closed until further notice.

As the threat of COVID-19 is still upon us, safety protocols will be in place for visitors to follow.

According to the Intramuros' safety guidelines, visitors should be 15 to 65 years old to be allowed entry in the sites.

Strict protocols are in place when visiting the sites, which include wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance of at least one meter between oneself and other people, following mandatory temperature and symptoms screening, and following mandatory sanitizing protocols at entrances.

A maximum number of people allowed in each area are also to be observed. In Fort Santiago and Baluarte de San Diego, only 100 people will be allowed at a time. While for Casa Manila Museum, only 15 people will be allowed at a time and when in groups, only five people per group are allowed.

When paying for the entrance fee for each site—P75 for adults and P50 for students and PWD—cash and cashless options are available.

Before heading to Intramuros, make sure to download and register in the StaySafe.ph app, as you will need it upon entering the sites for contact tracing purposes.
