If you still haven't been to Boracay or Palawan, then now's your chance to visit the Philippines' crown jewels in tourist attractions as they were named once again among the best islands in Asia by travelers.

According to the 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards for the best destinations in the world by travel review publication Condé Nast Traveler, Boracay and Palawan were included in its regional list of the best islands in Asia.

Boracay was crowned as the top island in the continent, scoring a total of 95.13 and besting nine other contenders. Meanwhile, Palawan landed on the eighth spot with score of 88.99.

According to Condé Nast Traveler, the awards survey was filled out by nearly quarter of a million travelers from various parts of the world.

Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism celebrated the back-to-back recognition of the Philippines' renowned tourist spots.

In a statement, tourism secretary Christina Garcia Frasco shared that they are "extremely grateful for these international awards for the Philippines based on the opinion and experience of travelers from all over the world".

"As we usher in this new era of travel post-pandemic, our focus is to continue building confidence towards travel to the country by ensuring improvement in ease of access, prioritizing tourist safety and convenience, and encouraging sustainable tourism practices," Frasco said.

The tourism chief emphasized that these recognitions affirm efforts to highlight the country’s natural wonders to foreign travelers.

"The Department is one with all our tourism stakeholders, from the local government units, private sector partners, and our fellowmen in celebrating these victories for the Philippines from Condé Nast Traveler. We are confident that the acclaim for our flagship destinations will help garner more international interest for our country," Frasco said.

She added that despite the ongoing pandemic, Filipino travelers can still enjoy nature-based tourism destinations like Boracay and Palawan and still be assured of their health because of continuous efforts to review the country's safety protocols.
