For Gordon Ramsay, the ‘best meal’ he’s ever made was for Princess Diana

Gordon Ramsay has showcased his brilliance in cooking for many stars in different industries. But out of the numerous dishes he has prepared, he has an all-time favorite—and it’s none other than Princess Diana.

When the celebrity chef was asked about the best meal he has ever made in an episode of the travel and food show Gordon, Gino and Fred Go Greek, he quickly said, “Man, I think cooking for Lady Di once.” The 54-year-old culinary expert told his co-host Gino D’Acampo that it dates back to the ‘90s, when he made a pressed leek terrine for her starter alongside some sea bass for the main course at Chelsea restaurant Aubergine.

After describing her as “beautiful,” Ramsay said that “she, by far, was one of the most gracious members of the royal family I’ve ever met.”

It can be recalled that in a 2016 interview with Daily Mail, he also talked about his experience cooking for Princess Diana. "When she came in, she was so normal. No airs and graces, security outside, she had the lunch menu and didn't go a la carte."

In August 1997, Princess Diana died in a car accident. According to a PEOPLE report, Darren McGrady—who used to be a royal chef—said that while Diana “was not a good cook,” she “would often just sit up on the counter or on the chest freezer, and she loved talking about Phantom of the Opera or Les Misérables.”

“She was an incredible, caring woman. She cared as much about the people behind those palace gates, as she did those in front,” he added.
