Miss International scraps swimsuit parade

Published Jul 25, 2023 10:46 am

This year's Miss International pageant will be removing the swimsuit parade during the finals night.

Unlike the previous editions,—where all delegates participate in the national costume, swimwear, and evening gown parade—the candidates will no longer showcase their swimsuits during the coronation night. Instead, it will only be done during the closed-door preliminary evaluation.

"There will be no more SWIMSUIT PARADE during the final gala of #MissInternational2023. Swimsuit evaluation will only be done during the closed-door preliminary evaluation," it said on July 22.

Despite that, the upcoming competition is gearing up to be "the biggest and most exciting Miss International edition of all."

The organization also said on social media that the winner "will be evaluated based on their attitude, punctuality, beauty of face, body proportion, intelligence, and their social contribution."

"Preliminary judging will strictly be for body proportion and skin quality only! Skin color is irrelevant," they noted.

Miss International 2023 will be held on October 26 at the Yoyogi Gymnasium No. 2 in Tokyo, Japan.

Nicole Borromeo of Cebu is hoping to end the Philippines' 10-year drought as she represents the country in the pageant. She is vying for the Philippines' seventh crown.
