Former president Rodrigo Duterte, Davao City 1st District congressman Paolo Duterte, and Davao City mayor Sebastian Duterte are set to run for Senate in the May 2025 elections, Vice President Sara Duterte said.
The vice president shared the news with the media on the sidelines on Tuesday, June 25 in Cagayan De Oro City.
"Lahat sila raring na tumakbo eh, si PRD ay senator, ‘yong kuya ko Si Paolo Congressman ngayon senator at si Sebastian Duterte," she said.
She added, “Yes, tatlo ang Duterte for senator. Yes, confirmed ‘yan.”
Duterte said she learned about the news from her mom, saying that her youngest brother, Sebastian, is eyeing a presidential run in 2028. She also hinted about her possible return as the mayor of Davao City.
Duterte recently made headlines after resigning as the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd), vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), as well as being a member of Marcos Jr.’s cabinet. Despite these, she shared she has no plans to step down from her post as vice president.
